Geographically isolated students

Identification

Students are considered isolated when:

as a result of location, they have limited access to as full a range of learning experiences as urban students;
they are unable to attend a regular school because of:

geographic isolation;
significant health issue;s or
travel in Australia or overseas.

Factors hampering early identification may include:

the small size of the community;
the socio-economic status of the community;
the Aboriginality of students;
the cultural or linguistic background of the student;
teacher experience.

Academic Talent Program (ATP) Online

The infrastructure for ATP Online is currently available in isolated or remote schools in Western Australia as part of the Gifted and Talented Education program.

Once the gifted and talented students have been identified, educational programs can be established among clusters of schools.
