Albany Education District will provide places for all kindergarten and pre-primary children in centres attached to schools for four and five year-olds or in community kindergartens for four year-old only.
In the City of Albany, this provision is coordinated to provide a whole-city approach. This has been done to ensure reasonable access to all and to ensure that there are the spaces and resources needed to cater for the children who will be attending in the new year. In few cases, this may mean that a space in the first centre of choice may not be available, in which case parents may be directed to another centre.
When determining enrolments from among those who have made applications, the following will be considered:
If additional spaces are available, they will accept applications from children not living in the intake areas and priority of enrolment will be determined using the same criteria.

Parents and interested persons who are interested in the welfare of a government school may participate in a school P & C. The P & C promotes the interests of the school though:
Cooperation between parents, teachers, students and members of the general community; the provision of facilities and amenities for the school and the fostering of community interest in educational matters.
The School Council is formed with the fundamental purpose of enabling parents and members of the community to engage in activities that are in the best interests of students and that will enhance the education provided by the school.
The functions of every school council in a government school are to:
(a) take part in:
(b) promote the school in the community;
(c) provide advice on policy for religious education and implementation of special religious education;
(d) determine, in consultation, a dress code for student;
