Meet the Team
Executive Roles and Responsibilities:
District Director
The District Director is responsible for educational leadership
across the Goldfields taking a leadership role in the implementation
of systematic strategic initiatives and government policy expectations.
District Directors provide a quality assurance
function for the Department by reviewing the performance of schools.
They work with the school administrators to ensure that schools
respond to strategic priorities and policies. This position represents
the Department of Education and Training in regional forums and
promotes the development of public schooling and the services that
public schools provide Goldfields communities.
District Directors line manage the principals in
the district and establish performance management agreements with
principals. They also facilitate the provision of support services
to schools including the provision of professional development for
school principals.

Area Director (Ngaanyatjarra
Lands)
The Area Director provides overall coordination
of the delivery of schooling in the eleven schooled in the Ngaanyatjarra
Education Area. Under the direction of the district director, the
Area Director reviews the performance of these schools and liaises
with the Area Director (Community) and the Ngaanyatjarra Council
regarding the provision of educational services to the communities
served by the Council.
The Area Director provides educational leadership
for schools in the Ngaanyatjarra Lands and ensures that schools
respond appropriately to Department policies and initiatives in
addition to ensuring that they are responsive to the educational
aspirations of their community. The Area Director undertakes performance
management of principals for schools in the Ngaanyatjarra Education
Area and coordinates the support services that schools in the Area
have access to.

District Operations Manager
The Operations Manager provides professional, administrative
and operational support to the District Directors. The Operations
Manager is an office bearer on committees and working groups within
the District; coordinates briefing documents, reports for the Directors
and coordinates responses as directed. This position is often the
first point of contact for schools and parents within the district
particularly in the handling of enquiries, concerns and complaints.
The Operations Manager assists schools and parents and provides
advice on the application of the Education Act and the Regularly
Framework.

Principal Consultant
The Principal Consultant provides professional
support to principals across the district including the provision
of advice on school development and school review processes. The
Principal Consultant also coordinates leadership development and
provides mentoring and professional growth opportunities for staff
moving to school leadership positions or more senior school leadership
positions.
The Principal Consultant is also responsible for
the development of strategies to raise the standards of school leadership
in the district and for development of mechanisms to access school
leadership development opportunities by principals, deputy principals
and aspirants to those positions.

Finance and Administration Manager
The Finance and Administration Manager provides
a full financial management service to the Directors and the School
Service Cluster, as well as specialist advice and support to schools
in the district.
The Finance and Administration Manager is responsible
for the accurate dissemination of policy and procedural guidelines,
and facilitates professional development processes for school administrators
in financial management, contract management, property services
and non-teaching staff appointment.
The Finance and Administration Manager develops
succession planning processes for all corporate services positions.

Curriculum Manager
The Curriculum Manager is responsible for coordinating
support to all schools in the district in implementing the Curriculum
Framework and the Outcomes and Standards Framework. The position
manages, monitors and reviews curriculum service requirements and
delivery of service agreements within the district.
The Curriculum Manager provides advice and support on curriculum
issues and systemic initiatives and communicates best practice and
innovative curriculum strategies in order to ensure accountability
and quality assurance for curriculum within the district.
The Curriculum Manager provides educational leadership within the
District Education Office and schools to enable enhanced quality
support and advisory service to schools in the district on curriculum
improvement program initiatives; and provides strategic advice on
the implementation of system best practice in curriculum implementation
and curriculum policy within the district and its schools in relation
to the Curriculum Framework and Outcomes and Standards Framework.
Identification, development and delivery of professional development
for District Education Office and school staff is coordinated by
the Curriculum Improvement Program Manager who also performance
manages district-based curriculum personnel.

Student Services Manager
The Student Services Manager provides leadership
and strategic support in the provision of Student Services programs
in the district. The Manager is responsible for managing the implementation
of student service programs within the district. This responsibility
includes ensuring quality of service provision and delivery and
monitoring the quality of student service programs to ensure consistency
with relevant standards and accountability frameworks.
The Manager is responsible for reporting on the effectiveness of
system and district programs, initiatives and reforms in student
services across the District. The Manager manages budget and resource
allocation for the student services program, liaises with other
government agencies to implement inter-agency protocols and projects
and responds to critical incidents within recognized frameworks
and processes.

Aboriginal Education Manager
The Aboriginal Education Manager, as a member of
an interdisciplinary district leadership team, has responsibility
for the provision of advice and support to School communities and
the District Director on matters relating to the education of Aboriginal
children. The Aboriginal Education Manager is responsible for the
development, implementation and monitoring of programs (in particular
the implementation of the Aboriginal Education Operation Plan) designed
to support Aboriginal students achieve comparable educational outcomes.
The Aboriginal Education manager provides advice, on leadership
and quality support to schools and the District Office to assist
with the implementation of Department of Education and Training
policies and culturally inclusive strategies that reflect Aboriginal
needs linked to Creating the Vision, the Department of Education
and Training’s plan for Aboriginal Education.
The Aboriginal Education manager is responsible for the development
and delivery of Professional Development, including mentoring for
District Eduction Staff, schools staff and Aboriginal Education
Staff and also performance manages district based Aboriginal Education
personnel.
Additionally the Aboriginal Education Manager promotes the Department
of Education and Training’s ethos and purpose and provides
advice to all areas of the Goldfields education sector in responding
to inquiries from community members and parents concerning its Aboriginal
Education policies and operations.
