Judging Criteria

Judging Criteria ensures that all teams have an equal chance of success.
The Challenge attracts entries from a range of schools and age groups. We want to make sure that all teams have the same chance of success, despite the age of the students, computer experience or access to equipment.

At the judging session, official scoreboards will be based on the following criteria. An important thing to remember is that judges will check your compulsory About This Site and Hints and Tips to see your process of creating your web site.

Teamwork and Collaboration 25%

  • Find evidence that the team considered how to divide tasks across the team members.
  • What is the extent to which the team worked with others - either individuals or organisations, both local and distant?

Research 25%

  • Look for thoroughness of research.
  • How has the team explored potential topics.
  • How have they chosen between the choices.
  • How have they researched their potential international audience.
  • In what ways has the team gathered information?
  • Is there a diversity of the sources of information?

Design 25%
It is important for the team to:

  • develop good design processes.
  • consider and evaluate alternative designs.
  • create a site that includes the necessary and desirable information, and makes it easy to find and use.
  • ensure the site design matches the potential audience.
Judging will also consider how well the site illustrates the topic.

Implementation 25%

  • How well was the design realised?
  • Are the graphics and text clear and correct?
  • Is the site complete, with no missing elements or links?
  • Is it easy to get around?
  • Does it accomplish the goal?
  • Form follows function, and a site works better if all of the elements are relevant to the subject matter.
