The PSPI program is a partnership between the Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST).
The PSPI focuses on the implementation of creative approaches to improving the education outcomes of Indigenous school students. It encourages parents of Indigenous students, Indigenous communities and schools to work together in partnership to address local barriers to education. The PSPI supplements mainstream education services and programs and provides a mechanism for capacity building in Indigenous students and parents.
Schools (or other organisations), in partnership with Aboriginal parents and community members, must complete an application form to be considered for project funding. This is submission-based, competitive funding. There are usually two funding rounds per year. Applications are due 31 March 2007 and 31 August 2007.
