ITAS In-School Tuition

Description

The ITAS In-School Tuition program is a partnership between the Department of Education and Training (DET), the Department of Education, Science and Training (DEST) and schools. This tutorial program aims to improve the literacy and numeracy levels of Aboriginal students in Years 4, 6 and 8. Funding provides for tutors, who are qualified teachers, to work alongside classroom teachers to target Aboriginal students who did not meet WALNA benchmarks in the previous year.

Schools in metropolitan areas must have a minimum of 20 Aboriginal students enrolled at the school.

How to apply

Schools are required to read the Information Package, complete the Application Form and email it to the ITAS Coordinator, Aboriginal Education and Training DirectoratePrimary, Middle Schools and District High Schools must return the application forms on or before Friday 30 November 2007 and High Schools on or before Friday 7th December 2007.

Standardising Testing (PDF)
Schools participating in the 2008 ITAS program are required to ensure students sit further standardised testing sent to schools by DET.  This assessment is a requirement of inclusion in the program and is one condition of the final payment into the school salary pool.  Testing materials are currently being distributed to schools based on the number of students from the Progress Report - Term 3, Week 1.

Return all materials in the envelope provided by the due date so that our team of markers can begin the moderation process.  Please ensure ALL answer booklets include the child's first name, surname, current year level, school code and school name.

2008 Final Performance Report
All reports must be typed and submitted via email.
