Description

The Department is committed to supporting its Aboriginal employees to ensure their successful contribution to the achievement of its educational goals and values. The Department employs Aboriginal staff in teaching and lecturing positions; administrative roles across schools, district offices and TAFEWA; and public service roles at all levels. There are currently 970 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff employed across the Department and TAFEWA.

The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer Handbook outlines the roles, responsibilities and entitlements of the AIEO. It also explains the process of selection and performance management and identifies available employee support.

The Aboriginal Liaison Officer - Criteria Progression Guidelines were developed to assist Aboriginal Liaison Officers with their career progression.

The Aboriginal Teachers and Administrators Conference is held each year to provide professional development and networking within the education profession.
